Seminar in "Renewable Energy Resources, classification, possibilities and prospects"

Student seminar in Renewable Energy Resources, classification, possibilities and prospects was held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies, from 3 to 14 December, 2007. The seminar was organized by the Department of Power Plants and Systems, under the auspices of the Willy Brandt Foundation- Italy.

The relevance of the subject prompted a great deal of interest among the students and the number of filled-in application forms for attendance exceeded 50. After the evaluation of the forms, a selection was made and the seminar was actively attended by 35 undergraduate and postgraduate students, mainly from the Power Engineering and Control Engineering curricula.

The aim of the seminar was to enrich students’ knowledge in the possibilities of using wind energy, solar energy, hydro energy, geothermal energy, biomass and other renewable energetic potentials in the country and abroad. Moreover, the seminar covered some methods for energetic-economic analysis of the projects for renewable energy resources, as well as modern software packages for specification of project parameters and the performances of certain types of renewable energy resources.

Lecturers at seminar were: Prof. Arsen Arsenov, Ph.D., Prof. Vangel Fustik, Ph.D., Prof. Mito Zlatanovski, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Anton Causevski, Ph.D., Doc. Atanas Iliev, Ph.D., and Doc. Krste Najdenkovski, Ph.D. from FEEIT, Prof. Slave Armenski, Ph.D. from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Teodora Grncarovska, M.A., from the Ministry of Environment,  Zoran Sapuric, Ph.D., and the expert in the  use of geothermal energy for electrical power generation Mr. Guido Capetti from ENEL-Italy.

The students were especially active during the seminar, and we need to point out their regular attendance, their commitment and their efforts to enlarge their knowledge.

All the students who will complete the seminar successfully will receive a certificate. On the other hand, the students who study according to the new ECTS, after the completion of the seminar and the knowledge check, will receive 2 credits, in accordance with the Decision brought by the Faculty Council.
